Lara Croft is making a comeback, this time in animated form on Netflix. After teasing fans with a first look at Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft last year, Netflix has finally released the first teaser trailer for the series. The iconic archaeologist, voiced by Hayley Atwell, is set to embark on new adventures within the beloved video game franchise’s universe.

The animated series picks up after the events of the Tomb Raider Survivor trilogy, marking a new chapter in Lara Croft’s journey. According to the show’s synopsis, “Following the events of the Survivor series, Lara Croft has abandoned her friends to embark on increasingly perilous solo adventures. But she must return home when a dangerous and powerful Chinese artifact is stolen from Croft Manor by a thief with an uncanny personal connection. Her daring pursuit will take her on an adventure around the world and to the depths of forgotten tombs, where she will be forced to confront her true self, and decide just what kind of hero she wants to become.”

Hayley Atwell leads the cast as the voice of Lara Croft, joined by Allen Maldonado as Zip and Earl Baylon reprising his role as Jonah from the video game series. Lara Croft’s character has been portrayed in live-action films by Angelina Jolie and later Alicia Vikander, but this animated series offers a fresh take on the character’s story.

Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft is set to premiere on Netflix on October 10.
