Christian McCaffrey Named Madden NFL 25 Cover Star

By Benjamin Webster
San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey will grace the cover of Madden NFL 25, EA Sports announced.
“To be on the cover of Madden NFL is a career achievement and an honor I share with all of my teammates, coaches, and 49er Faithful who have helped make it possible,” McCaffrey said. “I’m pumped to get back on the field this year to give Madden players more reasons to keep scoring touchdowns with me in Madden NFL 25.”
McCaffrey, the reigning NFL Offensive Player of the Year, recently signed a two-year contract extension, keeping him in the Bay Area through the 2027 season.
Mike Mahar, Madden NFL’s senior production director, described McCaffrey as a “human highlight reel.”
“Our players love his dynamic abilities in Madden, scoring more than 450 million touchdowns with him last year and making him the most popular running back in Madden NFL 24,” Mahar said. “Christian’s electrifying, dynamic, and physical play style perfectly represents the gameplay innovations we’re bringing to Madden NFL 25 and made him the perfect fit for this year’s cover.”
McCaffrey is the first 49ers player to be featured on the worldwide cover.
Last season, McCaffrey averaged 5.4 rushing yards per carry, finishing with 14 touchdowns and an NFL-best 1,459 rushing yards. He also caught 67 passes for 564 yards and seven touchdowns, leading the league with 2,023 combined yards from scrimmage.
A three-time Pro Bowler, McCaffrey spent his first six seasons with the Carolina Panthers before being traded to the 49ers in October 2022. He has thrived in San Francisco, rushing for 2,205 yards and 20 touchdowns while hauling in 119 receptions for 1,028 yards and 11 scores.
The 49ers went 12-5 last season, winning the NFC West and reaching the Super Bowl.
Madden NFL 25 will be released in August ahead of the NFL season. It will be available on Xbox Series X and S, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, PC via EA app for Windows, Steam, and Epic Games Store.
