Samsung Unveils Galaxy S25 Series: Redefining AI-Powered Smartphones

By Brian K. Neal

Samsung kicked off the year with a bang, unveiling its highly anticipated Galaxy S25 series at the Unpacked event in San Jose, California. The latest lineup features the Galaxy S25 Ultra, Galaxy S25+, and Galaxy S25, each positioned as AI-driven devices designed to revolutionize user interaction.

The South Korean tech giant is leveraging AI as a cornerstone of the Galaxy S25 series, building upon last year’s advancements powered by its Galaxy AI technology. These new smartphones promise to deliver a “fundamental shift” in mobile experiences, emphasizing intelligence, efficiency, and personalized features.

Central to the Galaxy S25 series is the Snapdragon 8 Elite Mobile Platform for Galaxy, a custom chipset born from Samsung’s collaboration with Qualcomm. This processor works in harmony with Samsung’s AI Galaxy software to maximize on-device processing power. The result is a seamless integration of hardware and software, enabling high-speed performance and enhanced capabilities.

The Snapdragon platform also fuels the ProVisual Engine, Samsung’s advanced neural processing unit (NPU), which powers the phones’ cutting-edge photo and video features.

The Galaxy S25 Ultra boasts a 6.9-inch QHD+ display with a silky-smooth 120Hz refresh rate. Its photography suite is equally impressive, with five cameras that redefine mobile photography:

  • 50MP ultra-wide camera
  • 200MP wide camera
  • Dual telephoto cameras: 50MP with 5x optical zoom and 10MP with 3x optical zoom
  • 12MP front camera

With up to 1TB of memory and 12GB of RAM as standard, the Galaxy S25 Ultra is built for power users.

The Galaxy S25+ and Galaxy S25 share many features with the Ultra, including a four-camera system:

  • 10MP ultra-wide camera
  • 50MP wide camera
  • 10MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom
  • 12MP front camera

The Galaxy S25+ features a 6.7-inch QHD+ display, while the Galaxy S25 has a 6.2-inch FHD+ screen. Both models include 12GB of RAM, with storage options ranging from 128GB to 512GB.

All three models introduce multimodal AI agents, a feature that allows the phones to process various data types simultaneously. Samsung emphasizes these agents as a game-changer for AI capabilities, making the Galaxy S25 series the most advanced AI-integrated devices in its lineup.

Samsung’s branding of the Galaxy S25 series goes beyond traditional smartphone terminology. It positions the devices as “AI companions,” offering natural, context-aware experiences that adapt intuitively to users’ needs.

The Galaxy S25 series cements Samsung’s reputation as the leader in Android innovation. The phones ship with Android 15 and come with an unprecedented commitment to software longevity: seven generations of OS upgrades and seven years of security updates.

With its latest release, Samsung reinforces its vision for the future of smartphones—not just as devices but as indispensable tools that enhance everyday life. On paper, the Galaxy S25 series lives up to its promise, setting a new benchmark in AI-powered technology.
