SteelSeries Unveils New Arctis GameBuds, Promising Premium HiFi Sound for Console Gamers
By DaMarko Webster
Gaming accessory brand SteelSeries has expanded its renowned Arctis product line with the launch of the Arctis GameBuds, a pair of gaming earbuds designed to deliver a high-fidelity audio experience tailored for console gaming.
At the core of the GameBuds’ performance is a custom-built chipset, co-developed with an undisclosed technology partner. This chipset enables many of the signature features found in SteelSeries’ premium headphones, such as EQ control, personalized sound profiles, spatial audio, and advanced noise cancellation facilitated by four onboard microphones.
The Arctis GameBuds provide versatile connectivity, supporting both Bluetooth 5.3 and a 2.4GHz wireless option. The latter is particularly valuable for Xbox and PS5 users, as these consoles do not support Bluetooth audio, making the 2.4GHz connection essential for seamless console compatibility. This ultra-low latency option caters to competitive gamers who rely on real-time audio feedback for precise in-game reactions. Additionally, SteelSeries has equipped the GameBuds with Quick-Switch, a feature that allows users to toggle between Bluetooth and 2.4GHz connections with a triple-tap on the on-ear button. A USB-C dongle for the 2.4GHz connection is also included and can be stored in the earbuds’ charging case, ensuring that players are always prepared for wireless play.
Battery performance is another highlight, with each charge providing around 10 hours of gameplay. The charging case offers three additional charges and is compatible with Qi wireless charging, delivering a convenient, cable-free charging experience. SteelSeries has also prioritized comfort, using data from over 62,000 ear scans to shape the ergonomic design of the GameBuds, ensuring a secure fit during extended gaming sessions.
The Arctis GameBuds bring together high-performance audio, advanced connectivity, and thoughtful design, positioning themselves as an ideal choice for console gamers seeking an immersive and competitive edge.
