Opera GX Browser AI Receives Major Feature Upgrade
By DaMarko Webster
Opera GX, the browser designed specifically for gamers, has announced a major update to its built-in AI, Aria. This enhancement introduces several new AI features that Opera has been testing in the Developer stream of the Opera One browser through their experimental AI Feature Drops program. The update significantly boosts Aria’s capabilities by adding image generation and understanding, voice output, a chat summary option, and links to sources.
Recognizing the importance of visuals on the web, this Opera GX update emphasizes visual functionality. Aria can now transform text prompts and descriptions into unique images using Google’s Imagen2 image generation model. Users can prompt Aria to generate images based on their conversations and can use the “regenerate” option for new images. Each user can create up to 30 images per day.
Additionally, Aria now has the ability to read responses aloud using Google’s WaveNet model. This feature is particularly useful for those who rely on screen readers, enjoy multitasking, or prefer listening to information.
Given that users often search for information based on images as much as text, Aria now includes image understanding capabilities. Users can upload an image and ask Aria questions about it. For instance, Aria can identify the brand and model of an unknown headset in a photo or solve a math problem from a picture.
The text-based chat experience with Aria has also been enhanced with two new functionalities: “Chat Summary” and “Links to Sources.” “Chat Summary” provides a concise recap of the conversation, highlighting the most important information. “Links to Sources” offers users relevant links for additional context on their inquiries. Additionally, the Aria Command Line has been reworked, allowing users to easily activate it by pressing “ctrl + /” or “cmd + /” to open a floating window for using Aria instead of navigating to the extension page.
These new features provide a significant boost to Aria, making it a more powerful and accessible AI assistant for the gaming community using Opera GX.
