When the Drive Becomes the Console: AFEELA Reimagines PlayStation on the Road

By Brian k. Neal

Sony Honda Mobility Inc. is continuing to redraw the boundaries of what an electric vehicle can be—this time by bringing PlayStation directly into the driver’s seat. The Sony–Honda joint venture has announced that PS Remote Play will be integrated into its upcoming AFEELA electric vehicle, signaling a future where mobility and interactive entertainment fully converge.

The feature allows users to stream PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 games directly from their home consoles to the AFEELA’s expansive interior displays. Powered by the vehicle’s advanced in-vehicle infotainment system, the experience transforms the cabin into a rolling digital lounge—complete with cinematic screens and premium audio that mirrors a high-end home setup.

This marks a first-of-its-kind move within the automotive space, positioning AFEELA not just as transportation, but as a lifestyle platform. Gaming during charging stops, waiting periods, or parked moments becomes seamless, blurring the line between commute and comfort. It’s a vision rooted as much in emotion as in engineering.

According to Izumi Kawanishi, Representative Director, President, and COO, the integration reflects AFEELA’s broader philosophy—turning the traveling space into something immersive, expressive, and deeply personal. Rather than treating the car as a passive environment, AFEELA reframes it as an active extension of everyday digital life.

Formed in 2022 by Sony Group Corporation and Honda Motor Company, Sony Honda Mobility has positioned AFEELA at the intersection of technology, design, and culture. The AFEELA 1, the brand’s first production model, is scheduled to debut in California in 2026—introducing a future where the driveway feels a little more like the living room, and the car becomes a canvas for play, connection, and experience.
