War Between Humans and Machines Explodes in Netflix’s Animated Series ‘Terminator Zero’ Trailer

By Kyra Greene

In a gripping new animated series on Netflix, “Terminator Zero” revisits the classic conflict between humans and machines. This series dives into the narrative of an AI called Skynet, which became self-aware in 1997 and launched a relentless mission to annihilate humanity. The story oscillates between the years 1997 and a war-torn 2022.

The plot follows soldier Eiko, voiced by Sonoya Mizuno, who is tasked with traveling back in time to protect scientist Malcolm Lee, portrayed by André Holland. Lee is developing an AI intended to counter Skynet’s threat, while he grapples with the moral dilemmas of his work and faces pursuit by a future assassin.

“You can’t see it yet, but you’ve been on a collision course your entire life,” Eiko states in a haunting voiceover. “There’s no going back, not really. It will never, ever stop.”

The trailer provides tantalizing glimpses of Timothy Olyphant as the Terminator, relentlessly hunting Lee. The star-studded voice cast also features Rosario Dawson as an AI bot named Kokoro and Ann Dowd as the Prophet, a philosophical leader in the anti-AI movement.
