Toshiba’s AX-RP10 Turntable Marries Retro Portability with Modern Wireless Flair

By DaMarko Webster
Toshiba is reviving the spirit of portable vinyl with its new AX-RP10 turntable—a nod to nostalgia that doesn’t forget today’s convenience-obsessed listener. While it takes visual cues from Audio-Technica’s cult-favorite Sound Burger (relaunched in 2022), Toshiba’s take is slightly beefier, but still compact enough to toss in a tote for park hangs or beach day DJing.
At home, it’s just as appealing for the space-conscious collector who wants to keep their setup streamlined. No pricing has been announced yet, but Toshiba says you can expect the AX-RP10 to hit the market sometime in April 2025.
Powering the player is a 2,000mAh built-in battery, which Toshiba claims will give you up to 10 hours of spinning time—plenty for a few side-A-to-side-B sessions. It handles both 33 1/3 and 45 RPM records, uses standard MM cartridges, and is belt-driven for smooth playback. There are no built-in speakers here, but a stereo mini jack offers wired audio options for headphones or direct connection to your system.
For those less concerned with absolute analog purity, the AX-RP10 also supports Bluetooth audio output—perfect for cutting the cord and streaming your wax to wireless headphones or a speaker. Audiophiles might scoff at the digital compression involved, but let’s be real: this device is built more for vibe than fidelity.
Bottom line? The AX-RP10 isn’t gunning for high-end turntable dominance—it’s targeting a lifestyle. It’s for the vinyl lover who values portability, simplicity, and the occasional dance break in the wild.
