Tiger Uppercut Reignited: Sagat Joins Street Fighter 6 Roster

By Brian k. Neal
The throne is no longer vacant—Sagat, the fearsome Muay Thai emperor, is officially stepping back into the arena. On August 5, 2025, the iconic Street Fighter boss joins the Street Fighter™ 6 roster, available across Nintendo Switch™ 2, PlayStation®5, PlayStation®4, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam.
For longtime fans and fresh challengers alike, Sagat’s arrival isn’t just a nostalgic blast from the past—it’s a full-blown power move. With his towering frame, punishing elbows, and fiery Tiger Shots, he’s ready to reign again in a game that continues to evolve the franchise’s legacy with precision, culture, and bold personality.
Sagat’s brutal, fire-laced Muay Thai moveset is paired with Proud Spire, a serene new stage that adds meditative beauty to the chaos. Think tranquil temple vibes, golden Buddha statues, and the quiet calm before the Tiger Uppercut. This juxtaposition feels intentional—a warrior in control, not chaos.
Fashion-forward fighters will be pleased to know Sagat comes correct with two distinct Outfits. His new look, Outfit 1, leans darker and grittier, echoing modern Muay Thai street style. Outfit 2 is a straight throwback to his Street Fighter II days—Muay Thai shorts, wraps, and all the classic swagger. You can either max out your bond with Sagat in World Tour mode to unlock it or grab it via Fighter Coins.
Players who opt into the Year 3 Ultimate Pass or Character Pass will get early access to Sagat, as well as the upcoming Year 3 characters: C. Viper, Alex, and the long-anticipated return of Ingrid. Both passes come packed with extra perks like new Outfit colors and Drive Tickets, and are available now for PlayStation, Xbox, Steam, and for pre-order on Switch 2.
With his return, Sagat isn’t just a fighter—he’s a statement. Get ready to kneel or compete. The emperor commands it.
