Secure Your Device According to Your Preferences with Samsung’s Auto Blocker

Samsung Electronics has unveiled Auto Blocker, a cutting-edge security tool tailored for Samsung Galaxy users, aimed at delivering personalized device protection. Recently integrated into One UI 6 as part of Samsung Galaxy’s expanded array of security and privacy advancements, Auto Blocker offers users an opt-in package of supplementary security measures, affording greater customization within the Samsung Galaxy open ecosystem.
Dr. Seungwon Shin, EVP & Head of Security Team, Mobile eXperience Business at Samsung Electronics, emphasized the company’s commitment to user safety. With the introduction of Auto Blocker, Samsung aims to provide a secure mobile experience within its open ecosystem, enabling users to make choices aligned with their preferences.
Auto Blocker introduces a feature to prevent unauthorized app installations, commonly known as sideloading. While intentional sideloading offers enhanced customization and control, users not engaged in this practice can activate Auto Blocker to bolster security. By doing so, the tool acts as a defense against social engineering attacks, such as voice phishing, by thwarting attempts to coax users into installing malicious software.
Beyond sideloading prevention, Auto Blocker incorporates additional controls, including the activation of app security checks. This feature aids in detecting potential malware, preventing harmful commands, and blocking software installations through USB cable connections. Particularly beneficial in situations where the device is physically accessible, like when charging at public places such as airports, it provides an extra layer of protection.
The update to Message Guard accompanies Auto Blocker, extending its protection against Zero Click attacks, where malicious code is concealed in direct image messages. Initially designed for Google and Samsung messaging apps, Message Guard now extends its safeguarding capabilities to popular third-party applications, giving users more flexibility in choosing secure apps.
Auto Blocker aligns with Samsung’s commitment to creating a safer mobile experience, combining industry-leading security standards with user choice. As the latest addition to Samsung’s suite of security and privacy innovations, Auto Blocker further refines the mobile experience for users across the Galaxy ecosystem. The feature is now available on Samsung Galaxy devices compatible with One UI 6.
