Paramount has dropped the first trailer for “Star Trek: Section 31,” the latest addition to the iconic franchise. This film delves into the clandestine world of Section 31, a covert division within Starfleet tasked with safeguarding the United Federation of Planets.
Michelle Yeoh takes center stage as Philippa Georgiou, the formidable Emperor of the Terran Empire. Following a failed coup, Georgiou is transported to the Prime Universe, where she initially serves as a Starfleet captain. She is soon recruited by Section 31, where she becomes a key operative.
The movie expands on the narrative set by the TV series “Star Trek: Discovery,” in which Yeoh’s character captains the USS Shenzhou. As the new leader of the shadowy Section 31, Georgiou faces the dual challenge of protecting the Federation and confronting the ghosts of her past.
Joining Yeoh in this star-studded cast are Omari Hardwick, Kacey Rohl, Sam Richardson, Sven Ruygrok, Robert Kazinsky, Humberly Gonzalez, and James Hiroyuki Liao. The film is directed by Olatunde Osunsanmi, with a script penned by Craig Sweeny.
The trailer teases a series of high-octane scenes, featuring everything from intense space races to fierce hand-to-hand combat, promising an action-packed experience.
“Star Trek: Section 31” is set to premiere next year and will be available for streaming on Paramount+.
