Microsoft Brings Copilot AI to macOS with a Dedicated App

By DaMarko Webster

Microsoft has officially launched a native Copilot AI app for macOS, expanding access to its AI assistant beyond the web-based version. The app is now available in the US, the UK, and Canada. While its functionality mirrors the web experience, the key difference lies in native macOS integration, including a convenient Command + Space keyboard shortcut for activation and support for dark mode.

Earlier this week, Microsoft also announced that Copilot’s Voice and Think Deeper features—powered by OpenAI’s o1 model—would be available to all users for free. These moves signal an effort to grow Copilot’s user base and increase its accessibility.

Big tech firms often struggle to bring their software to rival platforms, sometimes taking years to optimize services for different hardware ecosystems. However, Microsoft’s rapid rollout of a dedicated macOS app—following its iPhone and iPad launch—marks one of the company’s swiftest integrations into Apple’s ecosystem yet.
