Meta’s New Quest 3S: A Budget-Friendly Mixed Reality Headset
By Brian Neal
Meta has unveiled the Quest 3S, a new mixed reality headset that promises the same core features as the Quest 3 but at a significantly lower price point. Designed for those new to immersive technology or users looking to upgrade from earlier models like the Quest or Quest 2, the Quest 3S is poised to make mixed reality more accessible.
Priced at $300 USD, the Quest 3S undercuts the Quest 3, which retails at $500 USD (down from its original $650 USD launch price). Despite the price drop, Meta assures users that the 3S leverages the same advanced technology found in the Quest 3.
One standout feature of the Quest 3S is full-color Passthrough, enabling users to see their surroundings while still engaged in virtual experiences. Meta has also revamped its Horizon OS, enhancing its spatial computing capabilities and optimizing 2D app performance for smoother interaction.
The Meta Quest 3S is now available for pre-order with options of 128GB and 256GB storage, positioning it as a strong contender in the growing mixed reality market.
