Lewis Hamilton has ended a 945-day winless streak by clinching victory at the 2024 British Grand Prix. The Mercedes-Benz driver outpaced his main rivals, Red Bull’s Max Verstappen and McLaren’s Lando Norris, to secure his first Grand Prix win since the 2021 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix in Jeddah.

This triumph marks Hamilton’s ninth victory at his home Grand Prix, setting a new record for the most wins on a single track, surpassing the previous tie with German legend Michael Schumacher. With this latest win, Hamilton now boasts a career total of 104 Grand Prix victories, cementing his status as one of the sport’s greatest drivers.

The race also marked a significant milestone as Hamilton’s final British Grand Prix with Mercedes, as he is set to join Ferrari in 2025.

“It’s so tough, I think for anyone,” Hamilton remarked after the race, as reported by Motorsport. “But I think the important thing is just how you continue to get up in this and you have got to continue to dig deep, even when you feel like you’re at the bottom of the barrel.”

Hamilton added, “The important thing is I have great people around me continuing to support me. My team, every time I turn up and see them put in the effort, that really encourages me to do the same thing.”
