Sony has just updated its release schedule, revealing some significant changes. Notably, “Karate Kid,” featuring both Ralph Macchio and Jackie Chan, has been pushed from December 13, 2024, to May 30, 2025. Similarly, “Kraven the Hunter,” the Spider-Man spinoff led by Aaron Taylor-Johnson, has been rescheduled from August 30, 2024, to December 13, 2024.
In addition, “They Listen,” a thriller helmed by writer/director Chris Weitz and produced by Jason Blum, is set to hit theaters on August 30. Meanwhile, “Animal Friends,” a hybrid of live-action and animation, is slated for release on August 15, 2025.
“Kraven the Hunter” will stand out as the sole big R-rated movie for the holiday season, serving as an origin story for one of Spider-Man’s most formidable adversaries. Ariana DeBose, Fred Hechinger, Alessandro Nivola, Christopher Abbott, and Russell Crowe join Taylor-Johnson in the cast. Directed by J.C. Chandor and penned by Richard Wenk, Art Marcum, and Matt Holloway, the film is produced by Avi Arad, Matt Tolmach, and David Householter.
