Innovative Technology Meets Mountain Biking: Amflow PL eMTB Unveiled

In an exciting announcement that promises to reshape the electric mountain bike (eMTB) landscape, Amflow has introduced its latest product, the Amflow PL. Peter Archer, Senior Product Specialist at Amflow, remarked, “As engineers with a passion for mountain biking, we’ve seen a lot of tech innovation that has never made its way into the eMTB scene. We’ve married our tech expertise with our passion and today we’re introducing Amflow to the mountain biking community with our very first product, the Amflow PL.”

The Amflow PL stands out with its remarkably lightweight construction, featuring an ultra-light carbon fiber frame weighing just 2.27kg. This frame, meticulously designed and crafted, aims to deliver an unparalleled riding experience on any terrain.

At the core of the Amflow PL is the DJI Avinox Drive System, a marvel of modern engineering that incorporates state-of-the-art technologies in both software and hardware design. This drive unit boasts a compound planetary gearset, providing an industry-leading power-to-size ratio with 105 Nm of torque and a peak power output of 850 W, all from a unit weighing just 2.52kg.

The system’s high-strength polymer gears ensure quiet operation even at high speeds, while built-in high-precision sensors and advanced algorithms from DJI deliver smooth assistance across various scenarios. The DJI Avinox Drive System also features an innovative Auto mode, which adjusts assistance in real-time based on road conditions and riding position, allowing riders to tackle diverse terrains effortlessly.

For the most demanding trails, Boost mode offers a significant power surge, providing 120 Nm of torque and 1000 W of high-power assistance, making steep inclines manageable. Additional features include Walk mode for easy incline traversing, Auto Hold to prevent rollback on slopes, and Hill Start Assist for extra torque when starting on inclines. Stationary gear-shifting further enhances the intuitive riding experience.

The Avinox system’s battery, weighing just 2.87kg, offers ultra-high energy density, ensuring a substantial range. It supports fast charging with a 12A/508W GaN fast charger that can charge the battery from 0% to 75% in just 1.5 hours. The battery health management system provides real-time monitoring, self-discharge, active voltage reduction, and alerts, maintaining at least 80% capacity after 500 charge-discharge cycles.

The Amflow PL’s design features cutting-edge geometry, balancing lightweight agility with stable handling. It is compatible with both 27.5″ and 29″ rear wheels, allowing riders to choose their preferred wheel size without affecting the frame’s geometric center of gravity. The four-bar linkage structure reduces pedal kickback and enhances pedaling efficiency, while the rear shock, co-tuned with FOX, filters minor vibrations and prevents bottom-outs during high-speed impacts or steep descents.

The DJI Avinox system features a 2″ full-color OLED touchscreen integrated into the Amflow PL’s frame, providing real-time riding data and easy setup adjustments. Bluetooth-enabled wireless controllers offer greater control, and the Avinox App provides access to customizable parameters, an anti-theft mode, remote locating, and detailed ride data, which can be synced with third-party apps like Strava.

The Amflow PL and DJI Avinox Drive System have received certifications from TÜV SÜD, UL Solutions, and TÜV Rheinland, ensuring product quality and safety. Amflow has also established a testing platform to conduct comprehensive reliability tests under real-world conditions.

Amflow products are expected to be available by Q4 2024 through authorized dealers in Germany, the UK, and Australia, among others. This global service network aims to provide customers with timely, efficient, and professional support, continuously ensuring product quality.
