FromSoftware and Bandai Namco Reveal Elden Ring: Nightreign — A Bold New Chapter in Cooperative Dark Fantasy
By Brian K. Neal
FromSoftware and Bandai Namco have officially announced Elden Ring: Nightreign, an innovative cooperative spin-off set in the acclaimed Elden Ring universe. Revealed during The Game Awards 2024, the new title invites players to explore Limveld, a haunting parallel to the familiar Limgrave, while offering a fresh twist on the dark and treacherous world fans know and love.
Unlike the solitary journey of the original, Nightreign focuses on cooperative gameplay for up to three players. Adventurers can select from eight distinct characters, each boasting unique skills and playstyles, encouraging dynamic teamwork and strategic experimentation. Whether venturing alone or battling alongside friends, survival will depend on collaboration and adapting to unpredictable, escalating threats.
A standout feature of Nightreign is its three-day gameplay cycle, which blends roguelike mechanics with the iconic action-RPG elements that define FromSoftware’s work. Daytime serves as a critical preparation phase—players gather weapons, plan strategies, and weaken enemy camps. As night falls, the danger intensifies with the arrival of relentless Nightlords, pushing players toward increasingly climactic battles. Every third night brings a dramatic showdown, featuring eight formidable bosses whose defeat promises powerful rewards and progression.
Set to launch in 2025, Elden Ring: Nightreign will be available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Fans eager to witness this next evolution in the Elden Ring saga can catch the first glimpse of the action-packed gameplay trailer above.
Prepare to step into the shadows—where darkness reigns, and only the strongest alliances will survive.
