Focal Unveils Bathys MG: A Luxurious Evolution in Wireless Audio

By DaMarko Webster

French luxury audio brand Focal has introduced the Bathys MG, an elevated take on its premium wireless headphone line, blending high-fidelity sound with refined craftsmanship.

The Bathys MG debuts in a sophisticated chestnut brown, drawing inspiration from Focal’s renowned Clear MG model. Designed for both aesthetic appeal and comfort, the headphones feature a headband crafted from genuine leather and earpads lined with ergonomic foam. The frame is constructed with a combination of aluminum and durable magnesium yoke, ensuring both strength and lightweight wearability.

Focal has also incorporated magnesium into the custom-built speaker drivers, designed and manufactured in France. These drivers boast ‘M’-shaped domes, engineered to deliver a natural, dynamic, and highly detailed audio experience—without the need for cables. To enhance immersion, the Bathys MG includes active noise cancellation (ANC), merging audiophile-grade sound quality with effective noise isolation.

The headphones utilize Bluetooth 5.2 with multipoint connectivity for seamless pairing across multiple devices. When used wirelessly, they offer up to 30 hours of battery life, which extends to 42 hours in wired USB-DAC mode. A quick 15-minute charge provides an additional five hours of playback. Supporting a range of high-quality codecs, including SBC, AAC, aptX Adaptive, and aptX, the Bathys MG ensures an optimal listening experience across various devices.

Weighing just 350g, these headphones are designed for portability, complemented by a tonal rigid carrying case in matching chestnut brown for safe travel.

Focal’s Bathys MG will is available, with a price tag of £999 GBP / $1,299 USD, offering a luxurious option for audiophiles seeking both wireless convenience and uncompromising sound quality.
