Disney has officially released a teaser for its highly anticipated live-action adaptation of Lilo & Stitch, giving fans a nostalgic glimpse of the beloved blue alien’s return to the big screen.

The 30-second teaser opens with a serene view of Hawaii’s coastline, a picturesque backdrop central to the story. In true Stitch fashion, chaos ensues as he’s seen playfully destroying a sandcastle, hinting at the mischievous charm fans know and love. According to Disney, the film “explores the bond formed between a lonely human girl named Lilo and a dog-like alien named Stitch, who is engineered to be a force of destruction.”

Directed by Dean Fleischer Camp (Marcel the Shell with Shoes On), the film marks Chris Sanders’ return to voice the iconic Stitch. The cast includes Maia Kealoha as Lilo, Sydney Agudong as her sister Nani, with Zach Galifianakis, Billy Magnussen, and Courtney B. Vance rounding out the ensemble.

First released 23 years ago, the original Lilo & Stitch captured hearts worldwide, earning $273 million at the box office and spawning numerous spin-offs in both film and television. The upcoming live-action adaptation revisits the heartfelt story of six-year-old Lilo and her older sister Nani, who adopt Stitch—a genetically engineered alien also known as Experiment 626—as they navigate love, loss, and the meaning of family in Hawaii.

Lilo & Stitch is set to hit theaters on May 23, 2025. Fans can expect a fresh yet familiar take on this timeless tale of connection and adventure.
