Channing Tatum: The New Face of Versace Eros
By Jason Pena
Channing Tatum, the charismatic American actor celebrated for his undeniable allure, has been unveiled as the face of Versace Eros fragrances. This much-anticipated campaign, set to launch on August 6th, showcases Tatum in a captivating short film that epitomizes modern masculinity.
Tatum’s longstanding friendship with Donatella Versace, the iconic brand’s Chief Creative Officer, adds a personal touch to this collaboration. Having donned Versace on numerous red carpets over the years, this marks his inaugural campaign with the luxury fashion house. “When I started modeling in the 2000s, Versace was the brand I always wanted to work with but never did, so this campaign feels extra special and personal to me,” Tatum shares with heartfelt sentiment.
For many, the Versace name signifies unparalleled luxury and style, a legacy Tatum feels honored to join. Donatella Versace, who worked closely with Tatum during the shoot, lauded his stunning looks and the passion he brought to the campaign. “He shows strength and power and is also one of the kindest and most charming men I have met. He defines modern masculinity. The perfect Versace man. There is no one better to embody Eros,” she remarked.
The Eros fragrance, inspired by the Greek god of love and the son of Aphrodite, first launched in 2012. Gianni Versace, the brand’s visionary founder, drew inspiration from his profound love of Greek history for this creation. Developed by Versace’s fragrance licensee Euroitalia, Eros has become a hallmark of the brand, instantly recognizable by its geometric bottle adorned with Medusa’s head and the Greca motif.
This new campaign heralds the introduction of an Eau de Parfum pour homme flanker, expanding the existing Eros and Eros Flame collection. With Tatum as the face of Versace Eros, the brand aims to capture the essence of modern masculinity and the timeless allure of love, as symbolized by the Greek god Eros.
As Tatum embraces this new role, his bond with the house of Versace is set to strengthen further. His support for the brand has been evident, from attending the Versace Fall/Winter 2023 fashion show in Los Angeles to the Versace Icons dinner and the Versace x Net-a-Porter pre-Oscar party earlier this year. Most recently, he showcased Versace’s elegance while promoting his latest film, “Fly Me to the Moon.”
