Apple Sports App Rolls Out Real-Time Formula 1 Coverage

By Johston Feliz
Apple is shifting into high gear with Formula 1, rolling out a major update to its Apple Sports app that brings real-time race tracking to motorsport fans. The latest version (2.6) now delivers live leaderboards, lap times, and up-to-the-second race updates, offering users a front-row seat to the action as the 2024 season unfolds.
This move further cements Apple’s growing interest in F1, coming just months ahead of the release of its high-profile Formula 1 film starring Brad Pitt. The movie, set to premiere in theaters on June 27 before landing on Apple TV+, underscores the tech giant’s broader push into motorsports entertainment.
Since its launch in February 2024, the Apple Sports app has provided scores, stats, and standings across major leagues like the NFL, NBA, and Premier League. Now, with F1 joining the lineup, fans in the U.S., U.K., and Canada—where the app is currently available—can follow every race in real time.
While Apple hasn’t secured live broadcasting rights for F1, this latest update signals its growing presence in the sport’s digital ecosystem. With Formula 1’s global audience booming, Apple is clearly positioning itself as a major player in the sport’s tech-driven future.
