Apple Music and Universal Music Group (UMG) are teaming up to launch Sound Therapy, an exclusive audio wellness series designed to help listeners enhance focus, relaxation, and sleep. The collaboration blends science, sound, and artistry into a collection rooted in UMG’s health-centered Sollos initiative and powered by Apple’s tech-forward approach to wellness.

“For years, music’s role in health and wellbeing has been a strategic priority for UMG — one backed by our leadership team and supported by emerging research,” said Michael Nash, UMG’s Executive Vice President and Chief Digital Officer. “With Apple’s strong position at the intersection of health and technology, launching Sound Therapy marks a major step forward for our science-led Sollos platform.”

Rachel Newman, co-head of Apple Music, echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the company’s commitment to integrating music into users’ wellness routines. “Millions already make Apple Music part of their daily rituals,” Newman said. “We’ve seen high engagement with our mood-based playlists and Apple Music Chill radio. With Sound Therapy, we’re excited to deepen that experience — blending innovation and artistry to support personal wellbeing.”

Exclusively available on Apple Music, Sound Therapy reimagines familiar tracks by infusing them with scientifically engineered sound waves—like gamma, delta, and theta frequencies—and soothing ambient elements such as white and pink noise. These enhancements aim to promote specific mental states: heightened focus, deeper relaxation, and more restful sleep.

The project is led by Sollos, UMG’s internal venture that brings together producers, scientists, and audio engineers to explore the intersection of music and wellness. The Sound Therapy series includes extended or instrumental renditions of songs from a wide range of artists such as Katy Perry, Imagine Dragons, Kacey Musgraves, Ludovico Einaudi, Jhené Aiko, AURORA, Chelsea Cutler, and Jeremy Zucker.

Each track is placed into one of three categories—Focus, Relax, or Sleep—depending on the audio’s intended effect. For example, a dreamy reinterpretation of Katy Perry’s “Double Rainbow” is crafted to help listeners wind down, while an Imagine Dragons track enhanced with gamma frequencies could provide the mental boost needed for tackling a busy workday.

Apple’s longstanding health ecosystem — from Apple Watch to HealthKit and Fitness+ — now gains another dimension through music. The company plans to collaborate further with UMG and Sollos to build scientific research around how sound can actively support wellness, with an eye toward making those benefits accessible to users worldwide.
