AlphaTheta Unveils the DDJ-FLX2, Its First Entry-Level DJ Controller

By Jayson Echo

After debuting as a sister brand to Pioneer DJ, AlphaTheta has officially released its first entry-level DJ controller, the DDJ-FLX2, under its own name. This move follows the brand’s announcement earlier this year, marking AlphaTheta’s commitment to catering to budding DJs.

The DDJ-FLX2 is designed with new DJs in mind, offering a budget-friendly entry point with impressive versatility. It follows in the footsteps of the Pioneer DJ DDJ-FLX4 from 2022 and brings a fresh set of accessible features for beginners. Compatible with a range of devices, including smartphones, tablets, and computers, the controller also supports music streaming via popular services such as Apple Music, accessible through the Algoriddim djay app. Additionally, users can opt for other DJ software like rekordbox or Serato DJ Lite, making the DDJ-FLX2 adaptable to different DJing preferences.

Equipped with user-friendly features, the DDJ-FLX2 boasts tools like Smart CFX, which enables users to create intricate effects with a single knob turn. Another feature, Smart Fader, automates the mixing process by matching track speed and sound levels, allowing users to blend tracks effortlessly—even across different genres and tempos. According to the brand’s press release, “all you have to do is slide the crossfader in one direction,” making it a great option for those just starting out.

In terms of connectivity, the DDJ-FLX2 includes a 3.5 mm stereo mini jack for headphones, a similar port for speakers, and a USB-C connection for music sources. Bluetooth compatibility adds to its flexibility, further enhancing its value for the price.

Available now through AlphaTheta stock globally, the DDJ-FLX2 is priced at £159 GBP / €189 EUR / $179 USD—a competitive offering in the entry-level DJ controller market.
