After successfully securing a significant market share in India and the MENA region, esports tournament platform Gamerji is expanding its operations into Southeast Asia. Gamers in the Philippines and Indonesia can now compete in tournaments for popular titles such as PUBG Mobile, Free Fire, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB), Valorant, Clash Royale, CS, Rocket League, and FIFA/EA FC.
“As esports continues its exponential growth, gaining recognition globally from esteemed Olympic councils to governments, educational institutions, brands, and industries, Gamerji is committed to enhancing its presence in SEA markets which have been witnessing the soaring popularity of esports. Our aim is to offer a comprehensive experience where gamers can sharpen their skills through daily tournaments and enjoy a safe, fair, and exhilarating gaming environment, with rewards awaiting them,” said Soham Thacker, CEO and founder of Gamerji.
Founded in 2019 and based in Ahmedabad, India, Gamerji has quickly established itself as a leading platform in the esports industry. The platform currently boasts a user base of 10.8 million players in India and MENA, offering over 500 tournaments daily across 22 titles. With this latest expansion, Gamerji aims to grow its user base to 20 million over the next year, targeting at least 1 million users in Southeast Asia alone.
This global expansion is part of Gamerji’s strategic effort to capture users in developing esports markets. Technological advancements, improved access, and enhanced infrastructure are driving growth in India, MENA, and Southeast Asia. According to Statista Research, the SEA esports market is projected to grow at an average annual rate of 8.2% from 2024 to 2032, a trend Gamerji is keen to capitalize on.
Gamerji has raised a total of $4.7 million in funding, including a recent $3 million Pre-Series A round in late 2022 aimed at fueling its MENA expansion. The company’s investors include Stadia Ventures, GVFL, and Unicorn India Ventures.
With its Southeast Asia launch, Gamerji is set to further solidify its position as a key player in the global esports arena, providing a platform for gamers to compete, improve their skills, and enjoy the thrill of esports tournaments.
