BRINC Unveils First-Ever Drone Designed for 911 Emergency Response
By DaMarko Webster
BRINC, a leader in drone technology for emergency services, has announced the launch of the first-ever hardware designed specifically for Drone as First Responder (DFR) operations. This new integrated DFR solution includes the state-of-the-art Responder drone and the Responder Station charging nest, marking a significant advancement in drone technology.
BRINC’s innovative system is designed to respond to 911 calls in under 70 seconds, providing critical situational awareness to first responders before they arrive on scene. Additionally, these drones can deliver life-saving medical supplies, reduce manned response times, and handle low-priority calls without needing to dispatch personnel. This capability is particularly vital for municipalities facing police staffing shortages, as BRINC’s DFR solution can address approximately 25% of calls for service without dispatching officers.
“The launch of BRINC DFR marks a pivotal moment in the evolution of emergency response. Our DFR initiative is set to revolutionize the public safety landscape by empowering first responders with capabilities that significantly improve emergency response times and outcomes,” said Blake Resnick, BRINC Founder & CEO.
Responder: Reimagining Emergency Response
The American-made Responder drone by BRINC can support first responders in various capacities, whether as part of an agency’s automated DFR system, a patrol-led DFR approach, or as a manually deployed drone. The Responder is capable of delivering a wide array of life-saving payloads, such as EpiPens, automated external defibrillators (AEDs), personal flotation devices (PFDs), and naloxone (Narcan). Its two-way communication capability facilitates instruction and can enhance de-escalation during tense confrontations.
Equipped with a cutting-edge camera payload, the Responder provides a detailed view to public safety personnel upon arrival at the scene. It features a Full HD, 40x zoom visual camera array, and a 640px thermal sensor, which can aid firefighters in identifying hotspots during structure fires and assist search and rescue teams in locating missing or injured individuals. The drone also features an emergency response vehicle livery, custom agency markings, red and blue lights, and an integrated siren to ensure it is identifiable as a public safety asset.
Responder Station: Rapid Drone Deployment
The Responder Station is a robotic charging nest designed to be placed throughout communities to ensure fast response times. It keeps Responder drones operational, protected from weather, and ready to deploy in under five seconds. After each mission, Responder drones return to the nearest available Station to charge from 0 to 100% in just 40 minutes.
BRINC LiveOps: Unified Drone Operations Software
Driving this entire solution is BRINC LiveOps, a comprehensive drone operations software platform accessible on all modern web browsers, making it easy to use on mobile devices, tablets, mobile data computers, and at real-time crime centers.
LiveOps features include:
- Teleoperations: Operate Responder drones from anywhere using a browser tab and arrow keys.
- District-Wide Deployment Management: View calls for service, available drones, select a station for launch, and deploy drones to emergencies quickly.
- 2-Way Communications: Provide life-saving instructions and de-escalate critical situations.
- Augmented Reality Overlays: Contextualize live feeds by overlaying map data on drone video feeds.
- Integrated Airspace Awareness: Access local weather information, ADS-B data, ground-based radar detections, FAA map tiles, and more to manage airspace.
- Transparency Portal: Offer communities flight logs and a program dashboard to promote transparency.
- Public Safety Infrastructure Integration: Connect with existing computer-aided dispatch (CAD), digital evidence management systems (DEMS), 911 call systems, and more.
BRINC’s new Pyro series, particularly the Pyro S, is set to transform the landscape of professional filmmaking and video creation with its innovative wireless video transmission capabilities. The Pyro system’s flexibility, stability, and advanced features make it an ideal solution for small to medium commercial and television shooting teams.
