Long Live Arlen: Hulu Extends King of the Hill Through Seasons 16 and 17

Hulu is keeping the propane tanks burning a little longer — King of the Hill has officially been renewed for two additional seasons, bringing the animated classic back for Seasons 16 and 17.
The revival’s fourteenth season marked a triumphant return for Mike Judge’s beloved creation, reuniting viewers with the Hill family and their quirky Arlen, Texas neighbors. The comeback season followed Hank and Peggy Hill’s return from Saudi Arabia, where Hank had been working with Aramco. Their reentry into small-town Texas life served as both a nostalgic and timely lens on how much (and how little) America has changed since the series first premiered in 1997.
Critics and longtime fans alike have praised Hulu’s continuation for maintaining the show’s sharp wit and understated heart while embracing new social dynamics. Much of the original voice cast reprised their roles, with Toby Huss stepping in for the late Johnny Hardwick as the eccentric, conspiracy-prone Dale Gribble — a casting choice that’s been widely applauded for honoring Hardwick’s legacy while keeping Dale’s spirit alive.
Hulu initially ordered 20 episodes for the revival, split between Seasons 14 and 15, and the strong response has now guaranteed two more installments. With this double renewal, King of the Hill cements its place as one of television’s most enduring animated comedies — a series that continues to find fresh humor in propane, patriotism, and the everyday poetry of suburban life.
