Kodak Charmera Brings ’80s Disposable Charm Into the Digital Age

By DaMarko Webster

Kodak is tapping into its retro roots with a fresh spin for the digital generation. The company has unveiled the Kodak Charmera, a mini digital keychain camera designed to capture the spirit of the brand’s iconic disposable cameras from the 1980s—most notably the KODAK Fling—while adding modern functionality for today’s creators.

Weighing just 30 grams and measuring 2.2 inches across, the Charmera balances portability with nostalgia. Despite its toy-like scale, the device packs some surprisingly versatile features: the ability to shoot both photos and videos, seven vintage-style filters, and a built-in date-stamp option for an authentic throwback feel. Kodak also adds custom frame overlays to push the retro aesthetic even further.

A tiny display screen allows for instant previews, while captured media can be transferred via USB-C connection. Storage is handled through a micro SD card, ensuring that even with its playful design, the Charmera stays practical.

Collectors and enthusiasts may find an added thrill in how the Charmera is sold: through a blind box model. Buyers have a chance of unboxing one of six standard editions or the coveted secret edition—a transparent-shell version revealing the miniature camera’s inner workings.

Available in seven unique designs, Kodak positions the Charmera as a fusion of fashion accessory, nostalgia piece, and everyday gadget. It’s as much a cultural artifact as it is a functional tool—proof that Kodak is finding ways to stay relevant by reimagining its past for a new era of digital expression.
