Mic 3 Joins DJI’s OsmoAudio Ecosystem with Precision, Power, and Portability

DJI, best known for its drones and gimbals, is once again expanding the creative toolkit—this time in the sound department. The company has unveiled the DJI Mic 3, an ultralight wireless microphone that builds on its OsmoAudio ecosystem with professional-grade performance upgrades tailored for creators, journalists, and filmmakers alike.

Weighing just 16 grams, the transmitter is discreet enough to disappear on-camera yet powerful enough to support up to four transmitters and eight receivers simultaneously. This makes it a versatile solution for multi-camera productions, group interviews, or live event coverage.

For the first time in the series, the Mic 3 introduces adaptive gain control, which automatically balances audio levels to prevent clipping, alongside three voice tone presets—Regular, Rich, and Bright—plus two levels of active noise cancellation. Combined, these tools allow users to tailor sound capture on the fly without sacrificing clarity.

Onboard, the Mic 3 features 32 GB of internal storage and dual-file 32-bit float recording, ensuring both raw and enhanced tracks are preserved for maximum post-production flexibility. DJI has also added high-precision timecode embedding, a detail that smooths the editing process by aligning sound and footage with frame accuracy.

Performance goes beyond the specs sheet. With a 400-meter transmission range, automatic frequency hopping, and eight-hour battery life on transmitters (ten on the receiver), the Mic 3 is designed for high-pressure environments—whether that’s capturing backstage interviews at fashion week or recording live sound at a trade show. The charging case extends usage to 28 hours, providing peace of mind for all-day shoots.

Connectivity is seamless: the Mic 3 works natively with DJI’s Osmo line but also plays well with third-party gear via Bluetooth, USB-C, or 3.5mm ports. Priced at €199 EUR ($232 USD), it offers a compelling balance of portability and professional functionality.

With the Mic 3, DJI continues to blur the line between consumer convenience and professional performance, giving today’s creators a tool that feels built for the moment audio truly matters.
