CANVAS: The Future of Integrated TV Sound That Doesn’t Compromise on HiFi

By DaMarko Webster
Televisions have reached an astonishing level of image fidelity — but audio hasn’t kept pace. Even the best soundbars fall short, constrained by their compact form factors and limited speaker separation. For true audiophile-grade sound, separate HiFi speakers have remained the gold standard.
Until now.
CANVAS aims to bridge this gap — delivering true HiFi audio in a single, sleek unit that integrates seamlessly with your TV. It’s the first one-box solution to offer real, immersive 3D sound without the need for bulky, freestanding speakers.
At the core of CANVAS is BACCH 3D audio technology, a breakthrough developed by Princeton professor and rocket scientist Edgar Choueiri. With BACCH’s cutting-edge crosstalk cancellation, CANVAS creates a stereo image that spans 10–12 feet — from a unit just 3.5 feet wide. The result: a powerful, immersive soundstage with astonishing width, height, and depth.
CANVAS wasn’t conceived as just another soundbar. The goal was ambitious: to deliver the performance of a high-end HiFi system in a form that physically and visually integrates with modern TVs. At first, this seemed nearly impossible due to natural limitations of speaker proximity and room acoustics.
But innovation turned challenges into opportunity.
The CANVAS team combined high-end speaker architecture with an ultra-precise digital signal processing (DSP) crossover and robust enclosure design. While early prototypes sounded excellent, the stereo imaging didn’t yet meet true HiFi standards — until BACCH™ 3D Sound entered the mix.
This technology, recently refined by BACCH Labs and licensed from Princeton University, uses advanced crosstalk cancellation to send sound precisely to each ear. This allows for shockingly realistic 3D sound from just two closely placed speakers — a feat once thought unattainable outside of standalone HiFi systems.
CANVAS is powered by a 4-channel HiFi amplifier delivering a combined 250 watts RMS. The digital crossover ensures phase-accurate transitions between drivers, eliminating the compromises of passive crossovers used in traditional high-end systems.
But room acoustics can still make or break the listening experience. To combat this, CANVAS includes Room Correction, a smart feature that listens to your space for just one minute via an iOS app. It then auto-calibrates to provide optimal frequency response — ensuring bass isn’t lost in an open space or overpowering in a small one.
Beyond audio, CANVAS is also a design-forward product. Inspired by Nordic minimalism, its clean lines, neutral palette, and use of natural materials like wood and textile create a product that harmonizes with the living room rather than competing with it. This ethos embraces both beauty and utility, reflecting the Scandinavian concept of hygge — a cozy, balanced sense of well-being in the home.
By merging stunning acoustic fidelity with functional, integrated design, CANVAS redefines what a sound system can be.
