PlayStation Productions and Sony Pictures Unveil Full Trailer for Until Dawn Film Adaptation Ahead of Game’s 10th Anniversary
By DaMarko Webster
Just in time for the 10th anniversary of the iconic game, PlayStation Productions and Sony Pictures have dropped the full trailer for the highly anticipated Until Dawn film adaptation. Directed by David F. Sandberg (Annabelle: Creation, Lights Out) and penned by horror heavyweights Gary Dauberman (It, Annabelle series, The Nun series) and Blair Butler, the movie promises a fresh twist on the beloved horror tale.
While rooted in the same universe as its source material, the film takes creative liberties, introducing new characters and deviating from the original storyline. Fans of the game will still recognize key elements, including the menacing presence of the Wendigos. However, this adaptation tells an entirely new tale, ensuring surprises for both seasoned fans and newcomers alike.
The plot follows a new group of friends who revisit Blackwood Mountain one year after the disappearance of Melanie, sister to Clover. Their return quickly descends into chaos as they are brutally murdered—only to relive the horrific night over and over. Each iteration presents new threats, and their only hope for survival is to make it until dawn. Adding a layer of connection to the original game, Dr. Hill, portrayed by Peter Stormare, returns to explore his mysterious role in the unfolding events.
Stormare expressed his excitement for the project, stating:
“I have been lucky to be part of Until Dawn since the original, incredible, super terrifying game, and that’s why I’m so excited to be part of this film. The whole thing is a love letter to horror and completely honors the spirit of the game. The movie is going to be full of fresh characters and victims in a brand-new story, loaded with twists. So whether you’re a longtime fan or you’re discovering it for the first time, get ready for Until Dawn like you’ve never seen it before.”
Asad Qizilbash, Head of PlayStation Productions, teased further connections between the game and film:
“If you’ve played the game, you know not everything is what it seems. With the movie, we wanted to keep the audience guessing until the end. We can’t wait for fans to discover how the events of the movie connect to the Until Dawn game.”
Check out the trailer above and get ready to experience Until Dawn like never before when it hits theaters on April 25.
