Colman Domingo Takes on a Political Media Pundit Caught in a Deadly Conspiracy in Netflix’s The Madness
By DaMarko Webster
In the first trailer for Netflix’s original series, The Madness, Colman Domingo steps into the role of Muncie Daniels, a political media pundit whose life spirals into chaos after he’s wrongfully accused of murder. Daniels, who heads to the serene setting of the Poconos to focus on writing his novel, soon finds himself entangled in a nightmare when he becomes the sole witness to the murder of a high-profile white supremacist. Framed for the crime, Daniels must clear his name and uncover the dark global conspiracy at the heart of this intrigue.
Joining Domingo is a stellar cast including Marsha Stephanie Blake, Gabrielle Graham, John Ortiz, Tamsin Topolski, and Thaddeus J. Mixson. Directed by Clément Virgo and helmed by creator and showrunner Stephen Belber, the series promises a suspenseful deep dive into themes of justice, trust, and betrayal, with VJ Boyd onboard as executive producer.
For Domingo, the role brings a fresh challenge and perspective. “Everything about this conspiracy thriller excited me. It was a unique protagonist, one that I had never seen or experienced,” he shared with Netflix. “Someone who has very centrist beliefs, and now they’re being thrust into the world to really hard-core believe in something and to reexamine the people that they believed were possible enemies. You realize you have more in common with them than you thought you had in the beginning.”
Domingo believes The Madness mirrors real-world questions of power, loyalty, and the forces shaping public perception. “I think it says a lot about who we are now and what we’re willing to do, and also to look at who’s really pulling the strings and for whose benefit.”
Catch The Madness when it premieres on November 28, exclusively on Netflix.
