Marvel Unlocks New ‘Psylocke’ Solo Comic Series
By Kyra Greene
Get ready for a pulse-pounding journey into the shadows of the Marvel Universe with PSYLOCKE, an electrifying new series written by the talented Alyssa Wong, celebrated for their work on STAR WARS: DOCTOR APHRA and DEADPOOL. Paired with the dynamic artistry of Vincenzo Carratù, currently dazzling readers with DRACULA: BLOOD HUNT, this series promises to carve a unique niche in the X-Men saga.
In PSYLOCKE, we dive deep into Kwannon’s complex world. Now firmly established as a crucial member of Cyclops’ Alaskan-based X-Men team, thanks to the foundation laid in Jed Mackay and Ryan Stegman’s X-MEN #1, Kwannon’s journey takes a darker turn. Not every mission is suited for the X-Men, and sometimes, the path to justice requires embracing the shadows of her past.
Kwannon, once an enigma, has emerged as one of Krakoa’s standout characters through her roles in HELLIONS and UNCANNY AVENGERS. Taking on the mantle of Psylocke, she’s now stepping into the spotlight solo. Her story is one of transformation and resilience, trained from birth by the Hand to be a weapon, but choosing instead to fight for the X-Men. This series will shed light on her brutal upbringing, her intense relationship with Greycrow, and introduce a formidable new villain known as the Taxonomist.
“Everything in her history points her to the path of a villain,” Wong shared. “Her background is so full of tragedy—so why does she choose to be a hero?” This series promises to explore that very question, delving into the dark, emotional depths of Psylocke’s psyche. Wong adds, “This is a dark emotional character story, but it will also be a ton of fun as well. I’m excited to do something super dark.”
When the mission is too brutal for the X-Men, Psylocke is ready to unsheathe her blades and mete out justice against those who prey on mutants. Exploding out of the pages of X-MEN, join her as she navigates the underbelly of the Marvel Universe, carving out her own place in a world that constantly seeks to control her.
Prepare for a thrilling ride as PSYLOCKE launches this November, bringing you a blend of intense action, deep character exploration, and the dark allure of a hero forged in shadows.
