Warner Bros. Games Acquires MultiVersus Developer Player First Games

Warner Bros. Games has officially acquired Player First Games, the innovative studio behind the hit platform fighter, MultiVersus. This announcement comes as the studio relaunches the beloved fighting game as a free-to-play title, after a year-long hiatus. Adding to the excitement, the acquisition was revealed alongside the announcement of MultiVersus’ highly anticipated second season, set to kick off on July 23.

David Haddad, President of Warner Bros. Games, expressed his enthusiasm in a statement, saying, “We have worked with Player First Games over several years to create and launch MultiVersus, and we are very pleased to welcome this talented team to Warner Bros. Games. The bright and creative team at Player First Games adds to our extensive development capabilities.”

Player First Games will continue to operate under its current leadership, with co-founders Tony Huynh and Chris White remaining at the helm as Head of Studio and Head of Technology, respectively. The duo will report to Carlos Barbosa, VP and Studio Head of Warner Bros. Games San Diego.

Tony Huynh shared his excitement about the acquisition, stating, “Our team is excited to join the Warner Bros. Games family, and we feel that this will be great for MultiVersus overall. We are working to make the MultiVersus game experience the best it can be and having our development team integrated with the publisher is optimum for the players.”

With this acquisition, Warner Bros. Games strengthens its portfolio and development capabilities, promising an even brighter future for MultiVersus and its dedicated player base.
