Louis Vuitton’s Luxurious Chocolate Shop Debuts in Shanghai
By Benjamin Webster
Just weeks before the Chinese Valentine’s Day (Qixi) celebrations, Louis Vuitton has unveiled its first luxurious chocolate store in China. This is only the third Le Chocolat Maxime Frédéric location, following the maison’s branches at LV Dream in Paris and Marina Bay Sands in Singapore. The latest expansion brings this decadent experience to Shanghai.
Nestled in the Taikoo Li Qiantan shopping mall, the store opens just in time for Qixi, which falls in early August this year. It is the epitome of sweet luxury, infusing Louis Vuitton’s iconic house codes into its confectionery branch. The interior design, reminiscent of a tropical garden, features floor-to-ceiling wooden trunk displays that create a warm, inviting ambiance. LV’s beloved Vivienne mascot and The Petula pet lion add a playful touch to the setting.
Every chocolate offering at the store is adorned with Louis Vuitton’s recognizable motifs, ensuring a premium quality that is synonymous with the brand. The chocolates are flown in directly from Paris, where meticulous craftsmanship and attention to detail are paramount. The store itself is designed in a petal monogram-shaped space, right in the heart of the mall.
Chef Maxime Frédéric shared his thoughts on this new venture, stating, “We want to draw inspiration from local culture and lifestyle. In the future, we will definitely bring some customized creations for Shanghai, such as for Chinese New Year. It’s also important to share the happiness and joy of these exquisite chocolate treats. Because the most important ingredient of a piece of chocolate is love.”
Chocolate lovers can indulge in these delights, with prices ranging from $30 to $448 USD. The store officially opens its doors to the public on July 23.
